Ugandan long-distance runner Jacob Kiplimo has secured a second medal for Uganda at the ongoing 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham after winning the men’s 10,000m final to take gold.
Kiplimo, 21, broke gold medallist Joshua Cheptegei’s 10,000m record in a stunning time of 27:09:19.
“I am very excited….today I knew I would win because I saw the pace was a little bit slow,” said Kiplimo while speaking after winning the race Tuesday night.
