By The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Secretary General Richard Todwong has confirmed that the party will present the chairperson and incumbent Yoweri Museveni as its flag bearer in the 2026 Presidential Elections.
NRM Secretariat says the MK Movement, its newly formed vehicle Uganda Patriotic League under Museveni’s son Muhoozi Kainerugaba, as well as pressure group Mzee Tova Ku Main are all means to ensure the continuity of President Museveni.
Todwong made the revelations at a function to celebrate the NRM Day in Serere District over the weekend.
“He will be our flag bearer come 2026 and he is ready to serve the country,” Todwong said.
According to Todwong, President Museveni has ensured peace and tranquility, which should be galvanized until there is another candidate with the credentials to take Uganda forward, unfortunately he and the NRM, see none yet.
He said that the MK Movement, its newly formed vehicles Uganda Patriotic League which both are under Museveni’s son Muhoozi Kainerugaba, as well as pressure group Mzee Tova Ku Main are all means to ensure the continuity of President Museveni.
“All these are tributaries to take water to the main river,” he said.
Twodong said that although the different groups have generated internal fights with in the main party, they are not logical fights.
“These fights are not logical, they are just fights for positions and limited opportunities we have,” he added.
