By Nkumba University defeated Gulu University 2-1, advancing to the quarterfinals of the University Football League in a game played last evening in Gulu.
In the first stanza which was widely dominated by the hosts Gulu University, Biko Bage and Jamal Nsereko managed to convert their chance to put the visitors Nkumba in the lead at The break, while Gulu’s lone goal was scored by Michael Komakech.
This win on the road meant that Nkumba University joined the likes of Kampala University, Makerere University Business School, Makerere University, Uganda Christian University, Bugema University, Uganda Martyrs University and Bugema University to secure their spot in the last eight.
Despite confirming all eight teams for the quarterfinals, action in the group stages concludes today with two games: Busitema hosting UCU, and YMCA welcoming Victoria University.
Uganda Martyrs Nkozi are the defending champions after they defeated St Lawrence University 1-0 last year in Lugogo.
