“We have entered a new era of transformation,” she said. “From conducting our first-ever clinical trials for locally developed therapeutics to deploying over 5,000 electric motorcycles and 27 electric buses on our roads, Uganda is showing what’s possible through science.”

She also highlighted the rapid expansion of clean energy infrastructure, with 140 battery swapping stations and more than 30 DC fast chargers now operational across the country.

The 2025 edition of National Science Week, themed “Our Science, Our Wealth,” is expected to rally innovators, academia, policymakers and the private sector around commercialising local innovations, creating jobs, and reducing import dependence.

“This is more than an exhibition,” Dr. Musenero said. “It’s about building Uganda’s future through science. When we invest in local innovation, we invest in national prosperity.”

This year’s program will feature exhibitions, innovation awards, hackathons, and the President’s Science Dialogue providing a national stage to showcase how Ugandan solutions are tackling global problems.
