In a post shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Gen Muhoozi dismissed the UHRC’s letter as “stupid” and warned the Commission never to address him in such a manner again. “LOL! If these people value the lives we gave them, they MUST NEVER even think of sending me such a STUPID letter again! This is their last warning! I expect an apology,” Muhoozi wrote, alongside a copy of the letter from UHRC.
The letter, signed by UHRC Chairperson Hon. Mariam Wangadya and dated May 2, 2025, directed the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs to immediately release Mutwe, who has been in custody since April 26. The Commission cited Article 53(2)(a) of the Constitution and Rule 31 of the UHRC Procedure Rules, arguing that Mutwe’s continued detention is unlawful and could amount to contempt of the Constitution.
