The intimate event, conducted according to Rwandan customs, marked the beginning of a new chapter for Gashumba, who has long portrayed himself as a staunch bachelor. Sources close to the family revealed that the Umuvandimwe bride, known only is of Rwandan heritage. The kwanjula (introduction) was reportedly attended by a small circle of family and close friends, with no media access and a strict no-photos policy.
Despite the ceremony’s privacy, Gashumba faintly confirmed the development through a mysterious social media post, writing, “Wanna thank me! Congratulations Umuvandimwe Original,” alongside photos of himself in traditional attire.
The news comes as a shock to many who have followed Gashumba’s public commentary on relationships. He has often described marriage as a constraint on personal freedom and once famously remarked that he had no intention of sacrificing his independence to fulfill what he called “mandatory bedroom obligations.”
“I cannot get married. What would a woman bring into my life that would make me give up my freedom?” he once said during a televised interview, insisting that he lacked the energy for the expectations that come with a marital relationship.
However, Thursday’s ceremony signals a dramatic change in stance from the social commentator. While the identity of the bride remains under wraps, those familiar with the couple describe the moment as one Gashumba approached with both dignity and quiet excitement.
