Bobi Wine, Besigye To be Charged with Inconsiderate Use of Roads

Police have said they are collecting evidence to pin all those involved in last week’s demonstration that was intended to express dissatisfaction with the current state of roads.

Speaking to the press at the police headquarters in Naguru, a Police spokesman revealed that these are to be charged with inconsiderate use of roads among other charges.

Last week, the opposition parties under their United Forces of Change led a demonstration to express dissatisfaction, especially with the state of the roads,  especially in the city.

Many of these leaders were seen planting banana suckers, yams on the potholed roads in the city, and other attempts were unsuccessful with police putting them under house arrest.

Speaking to journalists today, the police spokesperson Fred Enanga referred to these as antics by some opposition leaders seeking relevance.

Enanga however says police are gathering evidence to pin all those involved in this demonstration. Among other charges, he says these will be charged with inconsiderate use of roads.

The Roads Act, 2019 and Physical Planning Amendment Act, no.2 of 2020, both criminalize roads and environmental littering, according to the law,  if found guilty one is liable to a UGX 2,000,000 fine or 18 months in prison.

Meanwhile, Police have also revealed that there is an increase in complaints from migrants, especially women, complaining about their husbands and relatives who steal and misuse their hard-earned money.
