Renowned Ugandan musician Bebe Cool was expected to perform at the highly anticipated Comedy Store event last night. However, the Gagamel International boss left the venue without stepping on stage, reportedly due to a dispute over his performance fee.
According to sources, Bebe Cool had not received a deposit prior to the event and insisted on receiving full payment before performing. The show’s proprietor, Alex Muhangi, allegedly delayed payment for nearly an hour and a half, prompting the singer to leave in frustration.
Following the incident, Muhangi took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his disappointment, writing: “I now understand why people don’t like Bebe Cool.” His post sparked mixed reactions online, with some supporting the artist’s decision to demand full payment upfront, while others criticized his actions as unprofessional.
The controversy has reignited discussions about the relationship between event organizers and artists, particularly regarding financial agreements and professionalism in Uganda’s entertainment industry.
