Will Liverpool Offer A New Contract To Salah?

Liverpool is reportedly preparing to enter negotiations with Mohamed Salah regarding a new contract to extend his stay at Anfield, as reported by Football Insider.

The future of the Egyptian star has been the subject of intense speculation, which could take another turn following his recent comments after Liverpool’s 3-0 victory over Manchester United on Sunday. Salah revealed publicly that he has not been approached by the club regarding a new deal, raising concerns among fans about his long-term commitment to the team.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Salah admitted that this could potentially be his “last season” on Merseyside, with his current contract set to expire in June 2025. However, fresh reports suggest that Liverpool intends to begin discussions over a new deal “within weeks,” following the closure of the first transfer window under new manager Arne Slot.

According to Football Insider, Liverpool’s primary focus in recent months has been on integrating Slot and bolstering the club’s recruitment team, which includes new additions such as Richard Hughes and the return of Michael Edwards. These internal adjustments have taken precedence over contract renewals during the summer.

Despite a relatively slow start to their summer transfer activity, Liverpool accelerated their business toward the end of the window, completing key signings like goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili and forward Federico Chiesa.

The Reds could soon move to reward Salah, who has begun the 2024/25 Premier League campaign in exceptional form, scoring three goals and providing three assists in just three games. Salah, widely regarded as “world-class,” has been a pivotal figure in Slot’s promising start at Anfield, and his performances have underscored his value to the team.

It is understood that Liverpool’s delay in offering a new deal has been due to their focus on settling the new manager and recruitment staff during the busy summer transfer window. Nonetheless, with those priorities now addressed, talks with Salah are expected to commence soon.

Salah, 32, was previously a target for several Saudi Pro League clubs, with Al-Ittihad making a £150 million bid last year—an offer that Liverpool firmly rejected. The club, then managed by Jurgen Klopp, remained resolute that Salah was not for sale and is likely to take steps once again to secure the right-winger’s future in England.

As negotiations approach, Liverpool fans will be hoping for a positive outcome that ensures Salah continues to light up Anfield for years to come.
