Vote for Change, Not Billboards, Mafabi Tells Nakasongola Residents

Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential candidate Nathan Nandala Mafabi has appealed to voters in Nakasongola, urging them to support him in the upcoming elections, promising to tackle corruption and deliver direct development to villages.

Addressing a crowd in Nakasongola Town, Mafabi emphasized the power of the people’s vote, jokingly cautioning that “even cows” should not vote, and calling on residents to make informed choices.

“We are begging you to give me your vote so that I can help Ugandans out of poverty. I have done an assessment as a villager like you and I know what you are going through,” Mafabi said.

He criticized the current government, asserting that infrastructure projects like roads in the district had been neglected during President Museveni’s 40-year tenure. “If Museveni loved the people here, he wouldn’t have spent time on posters, billboards, and T-shirts advertising himself for the elections. The time he has been here is enough for each one of you to know him,” he said.

Mafabi outlined his development plan, promising village-level allocations of UGX 100 million annually, mechanized agriculture support including tractors for each subcounty, and a crackdown on government corruption. “Government has a lot of money, but its usage is bad. Believe in me, and I will stop this kind of theft,” he said, referencing his past work as chairman of the Public Accounts Committee in Parliament.

He called on Nakasongola residents to trust the FDC’s approach, which he said focuses on direct, transparent support to local communities rather than political campaigns and slogans.
