The physical recruitment phase will take place across all 135 districts and 11 cities of Uganda. Shortlisted applicants will be required to report to designated recruitment centres with original academic documents, three passport-size photographs, a national ID, and a handwritten application endorsed by local authorities and security officials. Quotas will be based on the latest population data from the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS), June 2024.

Applicants will fall into two main categories. General recruitment is open to UCE certificate holders aged 18 to 22. Diploma-level Grade V teachers aged 20 to 25 will be recruited for teaching roles. Professionals will also be recruited for the Air Force, including pilots, engineers, air traffic controllers, meteorologists, and ICT specialists. Qualified Senior Six science students with at least 12 points and professionals up to the age of 30 are eligible.

While most candidates will be recruited from within their districts, professionals, Senior Six leavers, teachers, and Air Force applicants will be processed at a central location in Kololo, Kampala.

Applicants must be Ugandan citizens with valid national IDs, medically and physically fit, of good character, and residents in their district of application. Applications must be endorsed by LCI, LCII, LCIII chairpersons, GISO/DISO, and the RDC.

The UPDF has warned that recruitment is free of charge and urged applicants to report any form of bribery or fraud. Female professionals are strongly encouraged to apply.

The UPDF described the exercise as an opportunity for Ugandans to serve their country and contribute to national peace and security, reaffirming its core values of patriotism, discipline, nationalism, and Pan-Africanism.
