Rotarians in Uganda have introduced a mobile money-based application to raise a minimum of $700,000 (approximately Shs2.6 billion) to support the Rotary International Foundation endowment fund. The app, named 25 X 25 TRF Relay, was launched on Monday and aims to facilitate every Rotarian to contribute at least $25 (about Shs93,000) during the Rotary year 2024/2025.
Anne Nkutu, the Rotary District 9213 governor, highlighted the goal of the app during the launch event. She emphasized that the initiative is part of a larger effort to raise $2.025 billion by 2025 to support Rotary’s community activities worldwide.
“This Rotary Magic year, we are tasked with raising $2.025 billion by 2025, which will enable Rotary to support community activities globally,” Nkutu stated. She acknowledged the efforts of past district governor Edward Kakembo, who spearheaded the collection of $650,000 (about Shs2.4 billion) last year, marking the highest amount raised by all contributing clubs. Nkutu aims to build on this achievement to enhance impact and promote sustainability.
The 25 X 25 TRF Relay app is expected to streamline donations and encourage widespread participation among Rotarians, ensuring continued support for the Rotary Foundation’s global initiatives.
