Police are investigating a fatal road accident involving a Uganda Cranes team bus and a motorcycle, which occurred Tuesday afternoon along the Northern Bypass near Kisaasi Flyover.
The incident, reported at around 3:00 PM on July 29, involved a CAF King Long Bus, orange in color, registration number UA 19059AA, and a motorcycle with plate number UFB 122F. The bus was reportedly being driven by Khalid Ahmed who is assigned to Uganda’s national football team.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, preliminary findings indicate that the bus swerved to avoid an oncoming trailer and, in the process, knocked a Boda Boda rider—killing him instantly.
The unidentified victim’s body was transported to Mulago City Mortuary for a postmortem examination.
Both the bus and motorcycle are currently parked at Kira Road Police Station pending mechanical inspection by the Inspectorate of Vehicles (IOV). Investigations are ongoing to establish the exact cause of the crash.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased and urge all road users to exercise maximum caution,” said ASP Owoyesigyire.
FUFA has not yet released a statement regarding the incident.
