UCU Director of Students Affairs Pamela Tumwebaze Killed in Suspected Murder

Uganda Christian University (UCU) Director of Students Affairs, Pamela Tumwebaze, has been found dead following a suspected attack by unknown assailants at her home in Mukono District.

‎In a statement issued on Wednesday, the university announced her death, saying she passed on in the early hours of February 11, 2026.

‎ “She went to be with the Lord in the early hours of Wednesday, February 11, 2026. Please uphold her children, immediate family, and loved ones in prayer,” UCU said.

‎According to preliminary information, unknown thugs allegedly broke into Tumwebaze’s residence and attacked her. Police had not yet released an official statement by press time, as investigations into the incident were ongoing.

‎A source familiar with the matter said her life was “brutally cut short” during the attack, though details surrounding the circumstances of the incident remain unclear.

‎Tumwebaze was last seen publicly on Tuesday while addressing students during a community worship service at Nkoyoyo Hall, where she was the keynote speaker. In her message, she encouraged students to build healthy relationships grounded in forgiveness and faith.

‎Members of the university community expressed shock and grief over her death.

‎ “Our DOSA passed last night. She was the preacher yesterday. This world is not our home. I am speechless,” said Joan Niwandinda, a member of the UCU community.

‎By the time of her death, Tumwebaze was also serving as a member of Uganda Christian University’s senior management team. Colleagues and students described her as a dedicated administrator and mentor who played a central role in student welfare and spiritual life at the institution.

‎Police said they were pursuing inquiries into the incident and would issue an official statement once investigations progress.

‎Her death has sent shockwaves through the UCU community and beyond, with tributes continuing to pour in from students, staff, and religious leaders.
