By The Uganda Prisons Service has announced that training for newly recruited warders and warderesses will officially commence on July 12, 2025, at the Prisons Academy and Training School in Luzira. The training will run until July 18, and all successful applicants are expected to report on the first day.
According to a press release signed by Frank Baine Mayanja, Senior Commissioner of Prisons and the Service Spokesperson, failure to report within the stated dates will result in forfeiture of the training opportunity.

Recruits are required to carry original academic documents, a national ID, an active email address, a Tax Identification Number (TIN), and other personal effects. These include beddings, a pair of black gumboots, canvas shoes for physical drills, four pairs of khaki trousers, four plain white T-shirts, a truck suit, and a 20-litre jerrycan, among others. Female trainees are also advised to carry sanitary pads.
“No money payments are required from any applicant,” the statement emphasized, cautioning against fraud. The prison authority has also provided health status verification support through Dr. Kisambu James, reachable via the number 0772927164.

The Prisons Service reiterated its commitment to transparency and warned applicants to avoid middlemen or any unofficial payment demands.
