A gruesome incident occurred in Njerere Namiryango Mukono District this morning when a man, identified as Henry, stabbed his girlfriend, Molly Namwanjje, in a school garden where she died on the spot.
Henry also attempted to take his life but was rescued by the public and rushed to Mukono General Hospital where he is currently receiving treatment.
According to eyewitnesses, the couple had been in a long-term relationship but had recently been experiencing disputes. Residents of the area expressed shock and sadness over the incident, describing the couple as loving but troubled.
Molly’s aunt revealed that the family had received news of the incident and was still trying to come to terms with the tragedy. She confirmed that the couple had been separated despite being in love.
Johnson Wabuya, the Village Defense Officer of Njerere, condemned the lawless act, describing the situation as “unfortunate and disturbing.” He urged the community to promote peaceful coexistence and report any instances of domestic violence.
Ulea Stellah, the Family Affairs Officer, also weighed in on the incident, calling on couples to refrain from domestic violence, especially during the holiday season.
