According to Traffic Police spokesperson SP Michael Kananura, the taxi, registration number UAZ 910B, was tracked using CCTV cameras and impounded. Both the driver and conductor were detained at Kabalagala Police Station.
“Our investigations reveal the man on the roof is a TikTok content creator who allegedly paid UGX 20,000 to the driver and conductor to allow this dangerous act,” Kananura said.
The suspects face charges of carrying a person in a dangerous manner, contrary to Section 117 (1) & (2) of the Traffic and Road Safety Act (CAP. 347). The content creator, who remains on the run, will face similar charges once apprehended.
Police strongly condemned the act, warning against life-threatening stunts disguised as entertainment.
“No life should be put at risk for likes or comedy. Road safety must come first,” Kananura emphasized.
The suspects will appear in court soon.
