In an official statement issued by State House Uganda on Tuesday, authorities confirmed receipt of Agaba’s public complaint and committed to “establish the full details” of the incident.

Agaba had claimed that his brother, a boda boda rider, was intercepted by SFC personnel, beaten, and detained for two days, ultimately returning home with his toenails missing.

The alleged incident occurred as the victim rushed to attend to his pregnant wife, who had slipped and needed urgent help.

“The Special Forces Command has received Mark Agaba’s statement alleging the high-handedness of some of our officers,” read the statement from State House. “The SFC has taken deliberate steps to investigate the matter to establish its full details.”

According to the statement, the SFC has already reached out to Agaba and asked to be linked with the alleged victim for critical information that could help identify and apprehend those responsible.

“Institution of an internal probe has commenced with immediate effect,” the SFC noted, adding that it welcomes assistance from the public in providing any additional information related to the incident or other similar cases.

The incident, which came to light through a viral post by Agaba on X (formerly Twitter), stirred public outrage and renewed concerns over the conduct of security forces during presidential convoys. Agaba’s emotional account also revealed that the delay caused by the detention led to the tragic loss of his brother’s unborn child.
