Lwemiyaga County has consistently drawn national attention during election cycles due to its history of fiercely contested races. Ssekikubo, known for his outspoken criticism of the NRM leadership and strong-willed approach to governance, has long been a dominant figure in the constituency. His challenger, retired UPDF officer Gen. Emmanuel Rwashande, entered the race promising to restore “discipline, unity, and development” in Lwemiyaga.
