National Unity Platform (NUP) President Robert Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine, has accused state operatives of abducting, torturing, and secretly detaining one of the party’s mobilizers, Ssebudde Kassim, who was reportedly dumped near Namboole Stadium in the middle of the night following more than two weeks in incommunicado detention.

In a statement released on his official social media platforms, Kyagulanyi said Ssebudde was abducted alongside fellow party member and head of his personal security detail, Eddie Mutwe. The two were reportedly separated shortly after the arrest, with Ssebudde remaining in illegal detention.
“He was severely tortured, and upon release, ordered not to speak about his ordeal, otherwise they would kill him,” Bobi Wine stated. “The cowardly regime is doing all this to silence us, but our voices must get louder and our actions stronger.”
According to the statement, Ssebudde was released under the cover of darkness and left near Namboole Stadium without any official communication to his family or legal representatives. The NUP leader did not disclose the exact date of the release but condemned the alleged acts as part of a wider campaign of repression targeting political activists and government critics
.
Police and the UPDF have not issued an official response to the allegations. The Uganda Police Force and the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) have previously denied holding individuals in unlawful detention, despite growing reports of enforced disappearances and torture.

The incident adds to a growing list of similar cases involving NUP supporters, many of whom have accused security agencies of abduction, torture, and illegal detention without trial.
Kyagulanyi has vowed that the opposition will not be intimidated into silence, calling on the public and international community to speak out against what he termed “state-sponsored brutality.”
Efforts to reach police spokespersons for comment were unsuccessful by press time.
