Speeding District Vehicle Claims Two Lives In Nakasongola

Two people were killed and four others seriously injured in a single-vehicle road traffic accident involving a Nakasongola District Local Government vehicle in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

According to Police, the crash occurred on December 16, 2025, at about 3:30am along Wabigalo Road in Nakasongola District.

The accident involved a silver Toyota Hilux, registration number LG 0072087, belonging to Nakasongola District Local Government. Preliminary findings indicate that the vehicle was travelling from Nakasongola towards Wabigalo Trading Centre at high speed when the driver failed to negotiate a corner, lost control, veered off the road, hit a building fence and overturned.

Police identified the deceased as Mwebaza Ivan, a 32-year-old male and driver attached to the district, and Stella, a 30-year-old female adult.

Four other occupants sustained serious injuries. They were identified as Orech Rogers, 31; Mugabi Joshua, 31; Daphin, 24; and Mukanambala Faridah, 34.

Police officers responded to the scene, documented the accident and drew a sketch plan. The bodies of the deceased were conveyed to Nakasongola Health Centre IV mortuary pending postmortem examination, while the injured victims were rushed to the same facility for medical treatment.

The wreckage of the vehicle was towed to Nakasongola Police Station for further inspection as investigations into the cause of the accident continue.

Police have urged motorists to observe speed limits, especially during the festive season, to prevent avoidable road tragedies.
