Shortlist Released for 2025 UPDF General Recruitment Exercise

The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) has released the official shortlist of successful applicants for the 2025 General Recruitment Exercise, with the physical recruitment scheduled to begin on August 5 and conclude on August 15, 2025.

The list is accessible via the UPDF website at www.updf.go.ug/careers, or at respective district and municipal headquarters. Only shortlisted candidates are permitted to appear at the recruitment centers.

According to a press release signed by Maj. Gen. Felix Kulayigye, the Director of Defence Public Information, shortlisted candidates are required to present three passport photos, an application letter signed by local leaders (LC I, DISO, and GISO), and their original academic documents.

Those who did not indicate their district of residence during application will report to districts listed on their national ID cards. The UPDF has warned that any candidates presenting forged documents will be prosecuted.

The recruitment exercise is free of charge, and the UPDF cautioned the public to be vigilant against fraudsters.

Successful candidates will report to Kaweweta Basic Military Training School in Ngoma-Nakaseke District within three days after recruitment.

The recruitment timetable covers all regions across Uganda and includes districts such as Kampala, Arua, Gulu, Masaka, Jinja, Mbale, Mbarara, and Soroti.

The Ministry of Defence reiterated its commitment to transparency, professionalism, and merit-based selection in the recruitment process.

“We wish all candidates the very best. This is an opportunity to serve the nation with honour and discipline,” the statement read.
