Gogo, 36, rose from humble beginnings in Rwanda’s Eastern Province, where she first sang in her local Anglican church choir, Umucyo. Financial struggles marked her early career, but she pressed on, writing her own compositions and sharing them online. Her songs, including “Everyday, I Need the Blood of Jesus” and “Uwo Mwana”, drew attention for their raw sincerity and deep faith.

Her breakthrough came in early 2025 when South African YouTuber and musician The Kiffness remixed her snippet “Everyday, I Need the Blood of Jesus”. The viral collaboration, featuring trumpet, piano, and percussion, introduced Gogo to a global audience and drew hundreds of thousands of views within weeks. The remix also included a revenue-sharing agreement, ensuring that Gogo benefited directly from her newfound popularity.

In July 2025, she headlined a major gospel concert at Kampala’s Imperial Royale Hotel alongside Ugandan stars such as Pastor Wilson Bugembe. There, a performance of her viral hit was humorously branded “Burudi of Jesus” after a pronunciation slip, a twist that only boosted her online fame and endeared her further to fans.

Her music quickly spread across TikTok, YouTube, and gospel radio, blending worship with unpolished authenticity and moments of comic relief. Fans across Rwanda, Uganda, and beyond celebrated her as a refreshing, unfiltered voice in gospel music.

News of her death has sent shockwaves through the East African gospel community. Tributes have poured in from fellow artists and fans who praised her unwavering faith and her ability to inspire through song.

“Gogo sang with her heart and her life was a testimony. She reminded us that gospel music is about spirit, not polish,” one mourner posted online.

As Rwanda and the region absorb the loss, her short but impactful career leaves behind a digital and musical legacy that continues to uplift believers.?
