President Yoweri Museveni has arrived in Juba, South Sudan, for a working visit aimed at strengthening bilateral ties between the two nations. He was warmly received by his host, President Salva Kiir Mayardit, at Juba International Airport.
The Ugandan President was greeted by several high-ranking South Sudanese officials, including the Minister of Presidential Affairs, Hon. Chol Mawut Ajongo, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Ramadan Muhammed Abdalla.
On the Ugandan side, President Museveni was accompanied by the Minister of Defense and Veteran Affairs, Hon. Jacob Oboth Oboth, and the Ugandan Ambassador to South Sudan, H.E. Brig. Gen. Ronnie Balya.
During his visit, President Museveni is expected to engage in bilateral talks with President Salva Kiir and other stakeholders, focusing on issues such as trade, security, and regional peace initiatives. The two nations have a long history of collaboration, with Uganda playing a key role in supporting South Sudan’s early years of independence in 2011.
President Museveni’s visit underscores the strong relationship between Uganda and South Sudan, and their shared commitment to regional stability and cooperation. The visit is also expected to cover economic cooperation, infrastructure projects, and joint efforts to boost regional integration under the East African Community framework.
