The fleet was officially handed over on Friday afternoon by AIGP James Apora, the Director of Logistics and Engineering, who said the deployment is part of ongoing efforts to enhance police capacity and close security gaps at the grassroots.
According to Apora, every sub-county will receive two motorcycles to support day-to-day policing and ensure faster response to incidents. He tasked local leaders with ensuring the new assets are used responsibly and properly accounted for.
“This fleet will greatly improve service delivery and mobility at the sub-county level, especially during the current elections,” Apora said, noting that the logistics boost is intended to make policing more effective and accessible to communities.
He also expressed gratitude to the Inspector General of Police, the Minister of Internal Affairs, and President Yoweri Museveni for enabling the acquisition of the fleet.
The deployment comes as the country intensifies security operations ahead of a highly active campaign season.
