According to Patrick Jim Okema, the North Kyoga Regional Police Spokesperson, officers raided the premises and conducted a search in the presence of the LC1 chairperson and community members. The team uncovered dozens of number plates buried in a banana plantation near the homestead.

Police also recovered a box containing spanners and mechanical tools believed to have been used to dismantle and modify motorcycles, along with three bundles of dried opium and other suspected exhibits.

“No arrests have been made so far, but investigations continue. Some of the suspects are known to us, and we are tracking them down,” Mr Okema said.

He urged residents to remain vigilant and work closely with security agencies to ensure the suspects are apprehended and the motorcycle theft racket dismantled.

The recovery comes amid rising concerns over motorcycle theft across the region, with police attributing the trend to organised groups that operate across district boundaries.
