Police in Nateete have arrested seven suspects in a targeted operation following growing public concern over a spike in motorcycle robberies in Lungujja, Kosovo, Mutundwe, and along Nakawuka Road.
The operation, conducted on 11 December 2025, focused on dismantling criminal groups accused of attacking and robbing motorcycle riders. The suspects, identified as Mwesigwa Denis, Washington Erias, Niwugu Samuel, Nasasira Derick, Medy, Mbabali, and Nsereko Sam, were apprehended during what police described as a disruptive intervention aimed at restoring safety in affected communities.

Two motorcycle registration numbers UEW 612H and UMA 471AG were recovered during the operation, alongside other exhibits believed to have been used in the attacks.
According to preliminary police findings, the suspects allegedly posed as passengers before turning on riders to steal their motorcycles. The group is currently detained at Lungujja and Wakaliga Police Stations as investigations into a case of aggravated robbery continue.
In a related operation, police at the Central Police Station (CPS) Kampala arrested a suspected notorious pickpocket identified as Mugabi Hakim, alias Younger. He was picked up around the Mutasa Kafeero area on 12 December 2025 at about midday. Police say he has been actively operating along Luwum Street.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SP Racheal Kawala said similar operations will be intensified during the festive season to curb crime and enhance public safety.
