The Kampala Metropolitan Police have intensified operations against criminal gangs, drug abusers, and habitual offenders across several divisions, arresting a total of 204 suspects between November 4 and 5, 2025.
According to Deputy Public Relations Officer ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the coordinated operations targeted known hideouts and areas notorious for theft, drug abuse, and violent crime in both urban and peri-urban communities.
In Kajjansi Division, police carried out sweeps in Lweza B, Kilyamuli, Akright, and Kawotto, where 44 suspects were arrested for smoking marijuana, theft, and other acts of public nuisance. Two juveniles were also intercepted while attempting to break into a poultry house.

In Old Kampala Division, 60 suspects were arrested in Namungona, Nakulabye, the New Taxi Park, and Mukwano Roundabout. The suspects were found in possession of breaking implements and suspected narcotics, while others were apprehended for attempting to commit felonies.
Operations in Kabalagala Division led to the arrest of 45 suspects in Nsambya, Kamwanyi, and Kataba for possession of narcotic drugs and engaging in street mugging.
In Matugga Division, police rounded up several suspects along the Matugga–Gulu Highway, Gombe, and Lwadda areas, who were allegedly involved in phone and bag snatching during evening traffic hours and drug use.
Meanwhile, in Mukono District, multiple operations were conducted across Goma and Central Divisions. Nine suspects were arrested in Katwe–Bukerere, eight at Namave Industrial Park, and 30 in Kitega, Wantoni, Benghazi, and Kikooza.
In Kira Division, eight suspects were arrested in Nsasa and Bulindo with exhibits of suspected narcotics.
Owoyesigyire said all suspects are currently being screened and will be processed for prosecution in courts of law.
He commended the cooperation of local leaders and community members who continue to provide intelligence that aids the police in dismantling criminal networks.
“We appreciate the vigilance of residents and local authorities who have been instrumental in sharing timely information. Police will maintain visible deployment to ensure law and order in all affected areas,” ASP Owoyesigyire said.
The Kampala Metropolitan Police have vowed to sustain similar operations in the coming weeks as part of ongoing efforts to curb rising urban crime and enhance public safety.
