Officers from Kiwatule Police Station rushed to the scene after receiving an alarm from the victim. In the process of arresting the suspects, one of them reportedly attempted to strike the officers with a panga, prompting police to put him out of action. His accomplice managed to escape and is currently on the run.
The deceased, who was dressed in a hood, blue jacket, and black mask, was later identified by residents as a notorious robber suspected to be behind a series of robberies in Kiwatule and Kigowa. His body has since been taken to the city mortuary for a postmortem examination.
Owoyesigyire commended the swift and professional response of the Kiwatule Police Station and Kira Road Division officers, saying their intervention averted further harm to the community. He added that a manhunt has been launched to track down the fugitive suspect.
