Police Force Arrests Officers Involved In Viral Brutal Arrest Video

The Uganda Police Force has strongly condemned the actions of four officers involved in a disturbing arrest incident that was captured on video. The footage shows a woman being dragged in the mud, sparking widespread outrage and criticism.

The police force has identified the officers involved as ASP Andrew Betunga, Detective Constable Darius Aharizira, Detective Constable Hope Nsasirwe, and Detective Constable Loyce Kiboneka.

According to the police statement, the officers were executing an arrest of the woman, a resident of Lubiri cell in Mbarara City, when the incident occurred. However, their methods were deemed unprofessional and contradictory to the force’s standards. As a result, all four officers have been arrested and are currently detained in Mbarara, pending further disciplinary action.

The police force has assured the public that it will provide updates on the progress of the disciplinary action against the officers. This incident has raised concerns about police brutality and the need for accountability within the force. The Uganda Police Force has emphasized its commitment to upholding professional standards and ensuring that its officers respect the rights and dignity of all individuals.

This is not an isolated incident, as there have been previous reports of police misconduct and human rights abuses in Uganda. Human Rights Watch has documented cases of police brutality, arbitrary arrests, and detention in the country.
