Police in Bukomansimbi District have arrested a suspect accused of stealing coffee from a garden in Jingo Village, Bigasa, after a police dog tracked him down to his home.
The coffee was stolen from the farm of Ssebyanzi Baker of Lukawa Village in Gayaza Parish. According to police, the farmer received a phone call early Tuesday morning alerting him that his coffee had been taken, prompting him to immediately report the matter and request support from the K9 Unit.

A team of investigators and K9 officers secured the crime scene, before introducing the police dog, Forest, to the area where the theft occurred. Forest picked up the scent and tracked it for about 250 metres, leading officers directly to the home of Byamukama Edward.
Police say fresh coffee was discovered at the suspect’s residence, and Byamukama confessed to the theft upon arrest.
He was taken into custody and the recovered coffee has been submitted as evidence as investigations continue.
