By Kampala Metropolitan Police have dismissed claims that a Senior Two student was unlawfully detained, clarifying that the teenager was briefly held and released on bond in connection with a land dispute in Kajjansi, Wakiso District.
Police spokesperson SSP Patrick Onyango said the case arose from a complaint filed by Nakayeke Aisha, 35, who accused Talemererwa Moses, 16, of threatening violence after a confrontation over a plot of land she purchased in Munkabira Cell, Kajjansi Town Council.

Nakayeke alleged that on October 21, 2025, while visiting the plot with a colleague, Buule Livingston, Talemererwa the son of the late Yamulemye Ibrahim, the land’s previous owner picked up a panga and chased them, claiming they had no right to the property.
Police say Nakayeke legally bought the plot, measuring 40ft by 50ft, from Yamulemye Ibrahim and his wife Muyiya Nkwangala for UGX 5.7 million in January 2024. Following Yamulemye’s death, his family requested and was allowed to temporarily bury him on the same land.
Talemererwa was arrested the next day, October 22, but was later released on police bond after questioning. Onyango clarified that the suspect, being a minor, was not directly linked to the land sale.
“The juvenile was released the same day under the supervision of the area chairperson and two sureties,” Onyango said. “The matter was civil in nature, and the complainant was advised to seek redress through the courts.”
Police said investigations have since been halted and urged the public to avoid spreading false or exaggerated reports involving minors or ongoing civil disputes.
