The development follows a series of confrontations between traders and security personnel in the city centre. Police also confirmed the arrest of 13 other individuals on Monday for allegedly inciting violence and attacking police officers performing lawful duties.

“The case file has been submitted to the Resident State Attorney for perusal and legal advice,” ASP Owoyesigyire noted.

He called on the public, especially business operators in downtown Kampala, to remain calm and avoid actions that could lead to violence or disrupt public order.

“Members of the public should desist from acts that may incite violence or endanger others, particularly those who have chosen to keep their shops open and continue normal business,” he added.

Police have increased deployment across the city to prevent further disturbances and ensure peace and order.

The incident comes amid ongoing tensions between sections of traders and authorities over city operations and enforcement measures affecting business activities.
