By As Speaker of Parliament Anita Among and family members received the body of fallen Dokolo Woman MP Hon. Cecilia Ogwal, grief enveloped the cargo area of Entebbe International Airport.
After a brief stay in the hospital, Hon. Ogwal, 77, passed away on Wednesday in an Indian hospital.
Since then, President Yoweri Museveni has given the late Hon. Ogwal an official funeral; on Monday, January 22, 2024, a special session of Parliament is scheduled in her honor.
Speaker Hamson Obua, Government Chief Whip Hon. Hamson Obua, Health Minister Hon. Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng, and Sports Minister Hon. Peter Ogwang were among those there to receive the remains.
The other two are Hon. Solomon Silwany and Hon. Esther Afoyocan, who are Parliamentary Commissioners.
Hon. Ogwal’s body is currently being transported to Mulago Hospital for an embalming and post-mortem. This evening, a vigil will be held at her Bugolobi house.
