In a post on his official social media account, Bobi Wine condemned the alleged illegal detention and dehumanization of Mutwe, accusing the Museveni family of using brutal tactics to suppress dissent. “Eddie Mutwe is all of us. Today it is him, tomorrow it could be any one of us,” he wrote. The opposition leader emphasized that Mutwe’s case symbolizes the plight of many political prisoners in Uganda and called for unity among citizens of “good conscience” to demand accountability and freedom.

The gathering, billed as a non-partisan event, aims to bring together friends of Mutwe, activists, and ordinary Ugandans to stand in solidarity not only with him but with all individuals unlawfully held for their political beliefs. Bobi Wine urged attendees to renew their commitment to the struggle for a just and free Uganda, stating, “We must not despair. We must fight on until Uganda is free.”
