The National Unity Platform (NUP) is set to officially opened the window for party members seeking to contest in the 2026 general elections, with a strong emphasis on credibility, transparency, and adherence to party values.
Harriet Chemutai, Chairperson of the NUP Election Management Committee, announced on Thursday 22nd May that all applicants will undergo strict verification, warning that no shortcuts will be tolerated. “You’re not going to pick a card from somewhere because it’s NUP,” she said. “We shall verify everything.”

Aspiring candidates are required to submit a valid NUP membership card, a national ID, an updated CV, and certified academic documents. Chemutai stressed that only legitimate documents will be accepted, and thorough checks will be conducted before anyone is considered.
The party is calling for expressions of interest across all elective positions including the presidency, parliamentary seats (both constituency and special interest groups), district chairpersons, municipal and sub-county mayors, and LC5 and LC3 councillors.
Submissions will be accepted between June 1 and June 23, 2025, during working hours from Monday to Friday. Applications can be delivered physically at the NUP secretariat or sub-regional offices, or emailed to the commissions official email address
