Nandala Mafabi Promises Major Reforms in Health, Transport and Taxation

Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential candidate James Nathan Nandala Mafabi has pledged sweeping reforms in health, infrastructure, and taxation, saying Uganda needs urgent change after nearly 40 years under President Yoweri Museveni’s leadership.

Speaking at Igamba railway grounds in Iganga on Wednesday, Nandala Mafabi promised to upgrade district hospitals such as Iganga to referral status, equip them with modern diagnostic facilities, and ensure reliable drug supplies. He said the collapse of Uganda’s health system was a clear example of failed leadership.

The opposition leader also vowed to revamp transport infrastructure, cut electricity tariffs, and restructure the tax system to make it fairer and more beneficial to ordinary Ugandans.

“Uganda is in dire need of a new direction. We must build systems that serve the people, not impoverish them,” Mafabi told supporters.

He was flanked by senior FDC figures, including Patrick Amuriat Oboi, John Kikonyogo, MPs Isaiah Ssasaga and Jonathan Ebwalu, who rallied behind his message of transformation.

Nandala Mafabi will today continue his campaign trail in Buyende and Kamuli districts as he seeks to build momentum for his presidential bid in the 2026 elections.
