Hadijah Namyalo, the National Coordinator of the Office of the NRM National Chairperson, was met with a hostile reception during her empowerment tour in Mayfair, a suburb of Johannesburg, over the weekend.
Namyalo, who had traveled to engage Ugandan nationals living in South Africa under the “Jajja Omalako” empowerment drive, encountered an emotionally charged crowd of Ugandans who voiced strong dissatisfaction with the leadership in Kampala.
The residents, many of whom expressed frustration over governance issues and poor service delivery back home, demanded accountability and tangible solutions from the NRM-led government. Chants of disapproval and sharp criticism characterized the meeting, momentarily disrupting the planned dialogue.

Despite the tense atmosphere, Namyalo remained composed and assured the diaspora community that their grievances would be conveyed directly to President Yoweri Museveni.
“I have heard your concerns, and I will present them to the President. We believe in dialogue and taking every voice seriously,” she said during the engagement.
Her visit is part of a broader outreach campaign to engage Ugandans abroad in development and political mobilization ahead of the 2026 general elections.
The reception underscored growing discontent among expatriates.
While some welcomed her effort to reach out, others questioned the timing and motive of the tour, accusing the ruling party of neglecting diaspora voices until election seasons.
