Musisi Aims to Unseat MP Nganda in Kira

NUP’s George Musisi, having successfully secured his nomination for the Kira Municipality MP seat, has pledged to strengthen the constituency’s voice in Parliament while challenging incumbent Semujju Nganda, considered by many as one of the best-performing MPs.

Musisi argued that Parliament has increasingly become a “rubber stamp” for the executive, with other institutions, including the courts, also under heavy influence.

“We are starting on the journey which will lead us to the end of victory,” Musisi said after his nomination, noting that the struggle involves reclaiming power for the people and liberating key state institutions.

He stressed that while some may question the impact of one MP, having capable representatives is vital to restoring the sanctity of Parliament.

Highlighting Kira’s challenges, Musisi said marginalized communities are often overlooked. “Some people think Kira is for the affluent. Kira has ghettos struggling with healthcare, education, and other basic services,” he said.

Musisi pledged to monitor public funds, lobby for improved government services, and push for legislation that addresses the needs of all Kira residents, as he seeks to unseat Nganda.
