President Yoweri Museveni has issued a stern warning to individuals planning to riot, saying the state will respond decisively to any attempts to cause violence or disorder.
Addressing the media late Tuesday night from his Kisozi country home, Museveni dismissed claims by opposition figures that security forces would be overwhelmed by mass protests.

“I have heard Kyagulanyi say that soldiers and police are few while rioters are many. I advise you not to believe him,” Museveni said. “Every soldier and police officer has a gun with 120 bullets. First, calculate the total bullets per gun.”
The president did not announce any new security measures but framed his remarks as a caution to those contemplating unrest, particularly in the context of heightened political mobilization ahead of the next general elections.
Museveni’s comments come amid recurring tensions between security agencies and opposition supporters, with previous election cycles marked by protests, heavy deployments, and allegations of excessive force by security personnel.
Opposition leaders have in the past accused the government of intimidation and militarisation of politics, while authorities maintain that firm action is necessary to preserve law and order and protect lives and property.
