The meeting, held at State Lodge Nakasero, focused on enhancing collaboration in trade, investment, technology, and sports development. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to deepening the longstanding partnership between Uganda and Germany.

President Museveni stressed the importance of partnerships based on mutual respect and shared development goals, while Ambassador Schauer expressed optimism about the continued growth of relations between the two countries.

The meeting came on the same day members of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) held a peaceful march to the German Embassy in Kampala. The demonstrators, led by PLU Secretary General David Kabanda, accused Ambassador Schauer of interfering in Uganda’s internal affairs and called for his expulsion.

The UPDF recently suspended military cooperation with Germany, citing alleged subversive activities linked to the German envoy.

Despite the protests, Friday’s meeting proceeded as scheduled, with both parties describing it as cordial and constructive.
