The Catholic Church is in mourning following the passing of Rev. Fr. Agapitus Mubangizi, a long-serving priest of the Mbarara Archdiocese.
According to Fr. Mucosa Balikudembe, the Chancellor of the Archdiocese, Fr. Agapitus died on Monday at Rugarama Hospital in Kabale District, where he had been receiving treatment. The exact cause of his death has not been disclosed.
Though originally born in the Kabale Diocese, Fr. Agapitus dedicated much of his priestly life to pastoral service within the Mbarara Archdiocese. He ministered in several parishes over the years, including Nyakishojwa Catholic Parish in Mitooma District, earning respect and admiration for his devotion to the Church and his congregations.
Fr. Balikudembe noted that funeral arrangements will be announced in due course. The Archdiocese has called on the faithful to keep the late priest in their prayers as the Church prepares to lay him to rest.
