The Chairperson of Nakisunga Sub-county in Mukono District, Sekikubo Mubarak, has been remanded to prison after being charged with obtaining money by false pretence and conspiracy to defraud.
Sekikubo appeared before the Mukono Chief Magistrate’s Court this afternoon alongside Mugerwa Ronald Saaku, the Probation and Welfare Officer of Lugazi Municipality, to answer charges of allegedly defrauding a job applicant of UGX 38 million. The two were arraigned by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, in collaboration with the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).

Court heard that between January and June 2025, in Mukono Town, the accused conspired with Dr. Wataba Saadi, who is still at large, to defraud Dr. Mukisa George William by falsely claiming they could secure him a government job as a Medical Officer in Mukono District.
According to the prosecution, the accused told the complainant that the money was meant to “facilitate members of the Mukono District Service Commission” to help him secure the position for which he had applied. However, investigations later revealed that this was not the case.
It is also understood that the accused and their accomplices have been implicated in other similar schemes in which they allegedly extorted money from job applicants, promising to influence appointments to public service positions.
The two accused were remanded until November 4, 2025, as investigations into the matter continue.
The State House Anti-Corruption Unit has since urged members of the public to report cases of corruption, bribery, and job-selling rackets within government institutions, warning that such acts undermine the integrity of public service recruitment.
