The woes of 13- time Uganda Premier League champions, KCCA FC are far from over after parting ways with their Portuguese coach, Sergio Traguil.
The coach has been in charge of the Kasasiro Boys for only four months.
“KCCA FC and head coach Sergio Daniel Moniz Traguil have today,Tuesday, October , 24 ,2023 mutually parted ways with immediate effect. Sergio has a family issue that requires his immediate attention and thus both parties have agreed to mutually part ways. Assistant Manager, Luis Manuel Correira Guerreiro also leaves the club,” KCCA FC said in a statement.
Whereas the club said they had parted ways with the Portuguese due to a family issue he has to attend to, those at Lugogo say otherwise.
It is said the sacking of the coach stemmed from the dismal performance of the club.
The Kasasiro Boys are at the rock bottom of the Uganda Premier League table without a point from the four games so far played.
In the four games, the club has only scored three times but has shipped in eight goals leaving it in the relegation zone.
The last nail in Traguil’s coffin was last week’s 3-1 loss to newly promoted Kitara FC in a game played Masindi Municipal stadium and that earned the Kasasiro Boys a fourth straight defeat in the league.
“The club thanks the duo for their services and wishes them well in their future endeavors,” KCCA FC said in the statement.
The club has since appointed first team coach, Jackson Magera to take charge of all duties as the interim coach with immediate effect.
The Kasasiro Boys’ efforts for a first league title since 2019 has on several occasions fallen short, including last season when they finished second on the same number of points with winners, Vipers Sports Club
