The Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga has called on the government to construct more state-of-the-art hospitals across the country to provide quality healthcare services to the masses.
This appeal was made during his visit to the Mulago Women’s Specialized Hospital, where he was given a tour of the facility.
At 11 am, Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga arrived at the hospital, where he was warmly received by the hospital’s head, Dr. Evelyn Nabunya. He then proceeded to inspect various sections of the hospital, including the maternity ward, neonatal ward, and specialized equipment ward.
During the visit, Dr. Evelyn Nabunnya, the head of operations, briefed Katikkiro on the hospital’s activities.
She highlighted the challenge of overcrowding due to the high number of patients from different parts of the country seeking treatment at the facility.
Dr. Nabunnya appealed to the government to build more hospitals like Mulago Women’s Specialized Hospital to ensure that everyone has access to quality healthcare.
The Minister of Health in Buganda, Cotilda Nakate Kikomeko, revealed that the government is learning from the hospital’s best practices and applying them to the construction of new hospitals.
She emphasized the importance of replicating the hospital’s success in other parts of the country.
The Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga, commended the hospital’s staff for their hard work and dedication. He urged the government to prioritize investments in the health sector, including the construction of more hospitals across the country.
Mayiga also expressed concern about the theft of medicines from public hospitals, which has led to a lack of trust among citizens.
Mayiga further emphasized the need for the government to prioritize the welfare of doctors, enabling them to perform their duties without interference. He stressed that this would help improve the overall quality of healthcare services in the country.
