In May, the government implemented a temporary closure of the bridge to heavy vehicles, initially slated for a three-month repair period. However, upon further inspection, engineers determined that a comprehensive overhaul was necessary to ensure the bridge’s structural integrity. This extensive renovation involved repairing major supporting structures and replacing the entire surface.
To mitigate the disruption, traffic was redirected through Murchison Falls National Park.
