Police in Kamwenge District have launched investigations into the sudden death of a Senior One student at Mpanga Parents Secondary School, believed to have succumbed to complications related to epilepsy.

The deceased, identified as Martin Agaba, a resident of Kamwenge District, was found unresponsive in his dormitory bed on the morning of Tuesday, April 15, 2025. According to Rwenzori West Police spokesperson SP Vincent Twesige, Agaba was discovered by a friend who attempted to wake him up around 7am, but he did not respond. The dormitory master was alerted and confirmed that the student had died.
Agaba was reportedly known to suffer from epilepsy and was on medication, according to the school’s head teacher, Ms. Asaba Kameda. The police visited the school and later transferred the body to Rukunyu Hospital for a postmortem examination. Burial arrangements were underway at the time of reporting.
Police say investigations into the exact cause of death are ongoing, although preliminary findings point to complications from epilepsy.
