Alexander Bagonza, better known as A Pass, is set to host his first-ever concert on January 31 at the Kampala Serena Hotel. During a press conference on Monday, the celebrated “Gamululu” artist shared his bold perspective on his position in Uganda’s music industry.
“I respect Chameleone, Bebe Cool, and Bobi Wine, but none of them can do what I do. That’s the truth. I am on a different level when it comes to lyrics and artistry. I am the artist,” A Pass declared confidently.
While his remarks showcased his self-assurance, A Pass also expressed gratitude toward the artists who have paved the way for him in the industry. “I have learned so much from so many artists in Uganda. Chameleone, Bobi Wine, Bebe Cool, Mesach Ssemakula, and Sylver Kyagulanyi, among others, have given me a chance to also be part of this music industry,” he acknowledged.
Recounting his early struggles, A Pass reflected on the challenges he faced and how they shaped his work ethic. “The journey has been crazy. I started in a very small studio, the size of a kitchen, in 2013. But with all the hard work I put in and my humility, I was destined for greatness,” he shared.
A Pass also highlighted the high standards set for his inaugural concert. With Fenon Events overseeing the production and a foreign sound engineer ensuring world-class audio quality, the event is sponsored by I&M Bank, making it a landmark occasion in Uganda’s music scene.
Fans are eagerly anticipating A Pass’s debut concert, which he promises will showcase his artistry and solidify his place at the forefront of Ugandan music.
