His appointment marks a new chapter for the college, which was established in 2022 as the apex of strategic military education in Uganda.

At the Senior Command and Staff College Kimaka, Brigadier General Micheal Kabango, who has been serving as Chief of Staff – Land Forces, has taken over as Commandant. He succeeds Major General George Igumba, who is also set to retire this year.

The Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs (MODVA) praised the outgoing commandants, Maj Gen Okello and Maj Gen Igumba, for their decades of service.
