The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has unveiled a medical insurance scheme worth UGX 750 million for the 2025/26 season, in partnership with Case Med Insurance.
The scheme will benefit 16 clubs in the Uganda Premier League and 12 clubs in the FUFA Women Super League, covering a total of 700 players. Each club is required to submit a list of 25 players to be enrolled under the scheme, which takes effect on September 1, 2025.

According to FUFA, the initiative will cater for 400 players from the Uganda Premier League and 300 players from the FUFA Women Super League. The federation says the insurance cover is part of its commitment to player welfare and professionalising the game.
“This is a big step towards safeguarding the health and careers of our footballers,” FUFA noted, highlighting that players who suffer injuries during the season will be able to access timely and quality medical treatment.
Over the years, several players have already benefited from FUFA’s medical insurance, including striker Shafiq Kagimu, goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa, and midfielder Shafik Bakaki, who received medical and financial support for treatment both locally and abroad.
The new cover is expected to ease the financial burden on clubs and families when players sustain injuries, ensuring footballers receive specialised care without interruption to their professional careers.
